Storefront customer accounts
The customer records you work with in the admin have a matching, self-service side on your storefront — the customer-facing part of your store. This page is a plain-English overview of what shoppers can do there, so you understand where those records come from.
Registering and signing in
Section titled “Registering and signing in”Shoppers can create their own account on your storefront by registering with their details, then log in whenever they come back. Once signed in, their session keeps them logged in as they browse, so they don’t have to re-enter their details on every visit — and they can sign out when they’re done.
When someone registers or places an order, they show up as a customer in your admin. That’s the same list and profile covered in Find and filter customers and A customer profile.
Managing their own account
Section titled “Managing their own account”A signed-in shopper can manage their account for themselves, which typically includes:
- Their details — keeping their name and contact information up to date.
- Their addresses — saving and updating shipping and billing addresses, and choosing a default, so checkout is faster next time.
- Their orders — reviewing their order history and following along as orders move through fulfillment.
Because customers can maintain their own addresses and details, much of a profile stays current without your team having to touch it.
